Our final day at sea seemed to suddenly come around very quickly and here it was. We were now travelling in what is called the inside passage that is a series of small pine covered islands that litter the Pacific Ocean. Not wanting to bore you all but we did all the things that you need to do when leaving a cruise ship like packing and sorting out gratuities and ships surveys. After all the menial tasks where out the way we had down time of reading and walking round the ship. A real highlight of the day came when a pod of whales surfaced literally a few feet off the side of our balcony. Ok they did not surface all that much but they sent plenty of water through the air form their blowholes, it was just great to know that they |

were there. We managed a few pictures of the whales in action (so to speak) but as we say whale watching is a real game of patience and we had other things to do. Lunch was up in the windjammer and after more time reading we both headed off for our daily exercise. Jonathan up to the gym and Trevor to the pool. When you have done nothing but sit around all day we really did need to make the effort and try and burn off some of the calories that we had been consuming. It was time for the last theatre show on board and this one came with a bit of a twist as after the show the stage was filled with a representation of staff that make up all the jobs onboard, they came to say goodbye. The crowd thanked them and they thanked us....it was a real American feel the love moment. It was down to the cascades dining room at 20:30 to say good buy to Dione our waiter from the Philippines and Huseyin our assistant waiter from Turkey. We also said goodbye to our table mates, the elderly couple from Houston Texas who were turning platinum cruise members tomorrow when they get off the ship, they had been lovely. On our left hand side were a French Canadian couple from Montréal who were equally fabulous, they had been great table mates even though we had all been sat at tables of two we all chatted and got along......great company. Final stop of the night was the Champagne bar for a final night cap and another goodbye to Rebecca a lovely bar waiter from Indonesia. These people really do work some hours and they always manage it with a smile. We handed out our final little envelope and headed off to bed.....it was going to be an early start! |
