Day 15 - Tuesday May 24th 2016 - Cruising off the coast of Oman |
|
So we have really become creatures of habit on this ship and this morning was no exception as we headed off to the Windjammer for breakfast. As per normal this was followed by our morning visit down to Starbucks to pick up a skinny latte before heading to deck five and the two seventy area and the ilounge. After last night’s disappointing seats at the theatre at the Live, Love Legs show we wanted to book to see it again on the next leg of the cruise. Now there are three computers on board for all the passengers to use on this boat and this morning that was clearly not enough. In the time it took me to write up the whole blog Trevor had still not managed to secure a seat at a screen and had been standing waiting for some forty minutes or so. |

It’s nobody’s fault but it is very frustrating especially as when we did get a screen to use we were on and off in five minutes with the other two screens still being used by the same people. Small problems I know but frustrating. After sorting out our admin it was a quick visit back to the cabin to get changed and we headed off to the deck to sit in the sun for a while, well an hour to be exact. The sky is still very hazy overhead but the heat and humidity are tangible so being honest you can’t lay out for long at all as you just end up dripping with sweat. It was three o’clock in the afternoon before either of us was feeling remotely hungry and we just headed to the nearby hot dog van at Seaplex for a very light bite although once Trevor had a taste it awoke his appetite so we ended up going down to deck four and Sorrento’s for a few slices of Pizza so he wouldn’t starve! With the weather being so wet with humidity we called it a day outside and took sanctuary in the ships air conditioning. Trevor made it very clear that we would be spending quite a bit of time in the malls of Dubai if this heat is going to continue to keep cool. Now normally I would think that this was amazing but not this time. We are not allowed to shop due to our weight allowances so all we can do is look. We stayed in the cabin for a while, reading, Trevor back sorting out the blog website and just relaxing and being lazy yet again. You would think that this is how we live our lives, lazing around not doing much as we don’t have regular jobs but it’s not the case. Normally we are not very god at being still, doing nothing, relaxing. Maybe it’s because you don’t have the same distractions around you that helps you to just turn the dial down on life but for the last two days it’s what we have done. For anyone that knows us well thy will know that Trevor and I have lived our lives over the last few years moving from plan to plan, dreaming up a new adventure, a new experience or as it has been in the past a new house to modernise. We both know that at this point in our lives we are at another junction, time to make another big decision about our lives and how we want to live. We both promised ourselves that during the length of this trip we would use the time to really talk to each other and try and drag out those inner feelings that would lead us on our next path together. In all this quiet relaxing times those conversations have started but that’s all they have done, started. So back to the day at hand, apart from a brief visit to deck four for coffee and cake we stayed in the cabin for a few hours before it was time to shower and change go for our pre dinner drink and ultimately dinner which was back in the Silk restaurant this evening. After dinner we wanted to walk around the ship on deck 15 but it’s still closed in the evenings due to the pirates so we ended up just mooching around the ship and even stopped in a very quiet music hall (on board bar which normally has a very loud live band playing) and played a game of pool. It was soon time for our evening rendezvous with Michael & Martin and we went to the Bionic Bar to meet them soon moving straight down to Vintages and a quiet spot where once again we talked the night away until one a.m. Sometime in the future I hope that we do get to go to Cologne and visit them both as thy really are lovely people and we are very similar in many many ways. So that’s it, our penultimate sleep on the ship for this leg of the journey. Tomorrow will be our last day full of last day things to do like check the disembarkation processes and pack…. onwards and upwards and let the next stage of the adventure unfold. |
