Wow! So not only did we both end up going to bed really early, we also slept in until 0900, that’s a lot of sleep. We did the normal things, went through the bathroom then headed up to the windjammer for breakfast (it’s the only place that is still open for breakfast at this time). The ships compass newspaper on board had told us that it was going to rain today but as we passed around the pool post breakfast the sun was out with a real vengeance, its boiling out there! We followed our usual routine with a trip down to deck four and a Starbucks coffee and a seat to write up yesterday’s blog. Jonathan was feeling a little better, no headache but still had some reflux, he’ll battle on! We headed up to deck 15 and the blazing sun for just over an hour, that’s was about all we could take as the sweat was just pouring off us, it was so hot. Trev escaped to the indoor pool for a while whilst I braved the heat out but once again with no cream on it was time to call it a day and get inside |

and not turn into a roasted human being. We ended up having a light lunch in Café 270 (it’s the roast beef, it’s just too good to ignore) followed by lots of mooching and sitting and reading and watching films once again on our iPads. It was just great to be out of the cabin again and doing stuff, we had no plan, no agenda and it felt great. We actually got ready for the evening a bit earlier than normal giving us more time to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail at the schooner bar, yep, espresso martini for me and a B52 for Trev (well after he had a beer). Our dinner tonight was to be back in the wonderland restaurant, remember that place? This was to be our third visit to a wonderland so we certainly knew what to expect. Just a quick recap here, Wonderland is a restaurant based on elements such as fire, earth sea etc. and each course represents one of them so fish for sea and exotic vegetables for earth etc. As we had been before we asked the waitress to have the main entrée dishes that we had not experienced just yet (being the pork and the chicken). Wonderland is very much all about the theatre and presentation and to be honest by your third visit it loses a bit of its charm although it does make for an easy evening for your waitress as they have no explanations to give out which to be honest is also part of the theatre of place so without al that it does not have the same charm. We waded through a family size meal, just the two of us, there is so much food! The pork main dish was the best part, it was a slow roasted pork knuckle or a cut like that on a bed of pickles with a warm coleslaw, sounds yuck but was really tasty. Absolutely stuffed we headed down to Vintages wine bar to end what had been a really uneventful but totally relaxing day. Tomorrow we get to get off the ship and we can’t wait, the alarm is set! |
