Day 15, Bentota, Sri Lanka
Day 15, Bentota, Sri Lanka
Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day!
Well everyone, be clear....Sri Lanka is beautiful.
So we woke up refreshed and exhilarated knowing that the day bought nothing but rest, pure unadulterated totally selfish rest.
After applying the annoying sun cream we headed out first to the pool to grab us some sun beds and try and get some sort of tan.
The pool here at the hotel is big, with terraces all around it, some at different levels. The central attraction is the bar that you swim up to and we decided to get this out the way quite early on so jumped in, swam up to the bar and ordered milkshakes for our breakfast!

Trevor & Jonathan’s World Trip 2010
It’s actually New Years Eve here in Sri Lanka today....honestly!!! It has something to do the Buddhist faith, hence no alcohol is being served in the hotel today or tomorrow....oh well!
The views to the Indian Ocean from the hotel are all stunning, never have we seen such a beautiful beach but also such a beautiful almost deserted beach, it makes you feel like paradise belongs to you and you alone.
We laid out in the sun for about three hours and then headed for lunch. Our appetites are definitely returning and from what we ate last night and lunch the food in Sri Lanka is way beyond anything we ate in India.
Next stop was the beach, oh and what a beach just simply stunning perfect sand, perfect palm trees and the sun.
We had always planned for Sri Lanka to be a bit of a break from lots of sightseeing although we will do some and the hotel was picked so we could just chill, I think it is going to do just that!
We went for a dip in the Indian Ocean and the water has to be the warmest we have ever encountered. Normally when you get into the sea there is that horrible moment where it reaches your waistline and slaps against you stomach sending a chill down your spine. The only way to get over this normally is to quickly get in and get the shock over and done with. This is not the case here at all, the Ocean feels like a warm bath that relaxes every muscle in your body almost immediately. As you lay in the ocean and look back at the shore you glimpse back into a rich green fertile shore line and no one is there, not a sole person, the beach belongs to you, the ocean your personal bathroom. Just for those minutes you have found paradise, a personal paradise. It’s breathtaking!
The evening is a quiet affair with room service tonight, neither of us being particularly hungry as we had eaten lunch for the first time in about three weeks. We didn't feel we could go down to one of the restaurants and only order a starter.
Well thats today and I’m afraid readers I don’t think there will be much more to say tomorrow as we plan another very chilled relaxing day.
