Trevor & Jonathan’s World Trip 2010

All of our fears where easily put to rest as we sat down comfortably in our leather seats with plenty of leg room. It was quite a short flight to Phuket that took about 1 hour 45 mins so no time for food or anything like that.

As we approached Phuket the view out of the airplane window was stunning. The main coast line was surrounded by little islands standing like exclamation marks coming out of the sea. Like Sri Lanka it looked green and lush and vast.

We caught a cab to the hotel taking about 30 mins and I think we where both impressed by the hotel. Our room is great , it’s spacious with a view to Patong beach in the distance. The swimming pool is a three tiered affair with waterfalls connecting all the individual pools.

We took a walk from one end of Patong beach to the other. To be honest the resort is full of bars and clubs and restaurants and it feels very much like the rowdy holiday resort that it is. We passed shops selling all the fake merchandise such as A&F, Gucci, Prada you name it, the streets are also filled of the latest cd’s and dvd that are still only just in the cinemas.

We passed shop after shop offering us thai massage not to mention a few working lady’s and lady boys hanging around the street corners!

After walking for around two hours we headed back towards the hotel and jumped in the pool! It is so so hot here, the hottest I think we have felt and as our hotel is up a steep hill the final climb was far from welcome!

We are defiantly looking forward to exploring Phuket but that will come in a few days, tomorrow is definitely a pool day.

The other thing that hit us is all the tsunami warning notices and evacuation procedures and evacuation points, you forget that the coast here was all but wiped out.

It’a quiet night for us tonight with a few tiger beers and seafood noodles. Roll on the pool and the sunbed tomorrow, we still have white bits to get rid of !
